Empowering the Next Generation of Healthcare Leaders

A selective leadership program cultivating innovation, collaboration, and growth across Tennessee's healthcare community.

About the Program

The Tennessee HIMSS NextGen Leaders Program identifies and empowers emerging healthcare and technology professionals who are shaping the future of digital health. This selective, year-long initiative provides participants with hands-on leadership experience, mentorship from senior executives, and visibility within Tennessee’s healthcare innovation ecosystem.


Each year, ten outstanding professionals are selected for their leadership, impact, and commitment to advancing healthcare through technology.

What You’ll Gain

  • Leadership Experience — Contribute to strategic programming and lead or support up to two TN HIMSS events annually.

  • Executive Mentorship — Work alongside senior healthcare and technology leaders shaping the industry.

  • Professional Recognition — Be featured as a distinguished contributor to Tennessee’s healthcare innovation community.

  • Networking & Access — Receive complimentary registration to TN HIMSS signature events, including the Annual Summit, AI Symposium, and Chapter Receptions.

  • Growth Opportunities — Gain preferred enrollment in the TN HIMSS Leadership Development Program with Belmont University.

Your Role

  Members of the NextGen Leaders Program play a hands-on role in chapter activities, including:

  • Event Leadership – Plan or support educational and networking programs that drive engagement and innovation.

  • Chapter Representation – Expand TN HIMSS's visibility by fostering collaboration among healthcare and technology professionals statewide.

  • Committee Collaboration – Partner with at least one other committee to align NextGen initiatives with chapter-wide strategy.

  • Community Engagement – Participate in major events like the Annual Summit, AI Symposium, Golf Tournament, and Giveback Project.

Time Commitment

  • Term: January–December (1-year term)

  • Engagement: Under 10 hours per month on average

  • Meetings: Monthly team and committee coordination meetings

  • Members must maintain active TN HIMSS membership throughout their term

Eligibility & Selection

  We’re looking for leaders who:

  • Demonstrate commitment to innovation, collaboration, and professional growth

  • Bring experience in healthcare, technology, data, or related fields

  • Are passionate about improving healthcare through technology

  • Champion community impact, inclusion, and education across Tennessee

 

Applications open each November, and the new cohort is announced at the TN HIMSS Holiday Reception in December. Up to 10 members are selected each year to ensure a focused and impactful experience​
